Welcome to the Osteria alla Rosa!You are in one of the historical places of Malcesine, whose opening dates back to the beginning of the last century. At “Rosa” customers “parked” the donkey outside the courtyard (the pergola nowadays) and entered to strike bargains, to ask or offer labour for farming, to sell or buy cattle or simply to play cards or to drink a glass of wine together; sometimes the craftsmen and farmers would bring their own meal, which Rosa kept warm for them on the stove and later served with a glass of wine (often more than one!!).
As time went by cooking stopped, but “Bar Rosa” remained a meeting place for the local people. Only in the 60s, with the advent of tourism, visitors started to cross the threshold of “Osteria alla Rosa”, attracted by the cheerful noise of the locals inside.
MODERN TIMES
In June 2000 my wife Luisa and I (Marco Pallua) lit the kitchen stove once again in this ancient place situated in the historical centre of Malcesine, inspired by the motto “New kitchen, old flavours”: the premises, in fact, have been completely renovated, but the soul has held fast to local traditions.
Thanks to the know-how handed down from four generations and to our passion for hospitality, in a few years we have created a pleasant and cosy place, where you can enjoy the most tasty dishes of a cuisine rich in flavours typical of the lake and surrounding area.
Entering the “Osteria” you breathe immediately the atmosphere of the old tavern: in the bar and in the restaurant farmhouse style furniture, on the wall ancient tools representing the old crafts and the country life, on the tables chequered cloths and typical glasses, in the bar people chatting cheerfully.
During the summer months you can savour our dishes or simply sip a glass of excellent wine while relaxing under the shade of the vine-covered pergola in the garden.
The kitchen is open no-stop, all day long you can order a good bottle of wine chosen from the large selection on our wine list and whet your appetite with local cheeses or salami or with snacks of fresh-water fish.
WITH PRIDE AND SATISFACTION WE WERE REGISTERED IN 2024 IN THE REGIONAL LIST OF "HISTORICAL PLACES OF COMMERCE" OF THE VENETO REGION, WHICH INCLUDES COMMERCIAL ACTIVITIES THAT HAVE PRESERVED AND PASSED ON TRADITION, PASSION AND SOCIALITY FOR MANY YEARS.
